Sugar by robin shultz featuring Francesco Yates - https://youtu.be/bvC_0foemLY
I have chosen this music video to analyze because i think it applies to a 16 - 25 year fun loving
audience which is the demographic for my own music video. There are many noticeable pop genre conventions in this text for example. Lip syncing, dancing and a loose narrative and doesn't do much outside of typical conventions. The video has a mix of performance. francessco yates sing and the robin schulzs dancing in the car.

‘Midnight city’ by m83 - https://youtu.be/dX3k_QDnzHE
I chose this song as it is very similar sound to the song i have chosen. The video fits typical conventions as it has a narrative amd lyrics which match the video for example it says about a skylight whilst showing a shot of a skylight. However the video is outside traditional pop music video conventions as there is no performance or lip syncing and it is completely narrative.
There are no shots of the actual artist in the video.
This could be because they assume that the people watching already know of them. There is a shift in the video, around 50 seconds in where the children ‘break free’.there are possibilities for people to look further into this as it has possibleable multiple meanings surrounding it.
'time to pretend' by MGMT - https://youtu.be/B9dSYgd5Elk
I chose this song because it is by the same artist that my song is from and it has a similar visual style to my video. This video slightly fits conventions as it has lip syncing and some perfornance (drums) however the visual effects and unclear narrative and psychodellic imagary are unique and unconventional. This visual style might have been used to match the songs sound and lyrics however it is very unclear and leaves the audiance confused. There could also be hiden messages in the video for example they they are pushing money into a fire this could have some kind of pollitical meaning.
